Sleep CD
An hour of music and sounds designed to enhance sleep and sleep health. This music has been used to encourage more regular sleep patterns, deeper REM sleep and re-establish circadian rhythms. Whilst their is no guarantee it will work for everyone many users (both adults and children) have experienced significant change in their quality and duration of sleep.
The CD contains 7 tracks varying in time from around 5 to 15 minutes in length.

Bonus track – Moon Coming Out
The tracks on this CD were composed with people on the autism spectrum in mind but I hope they might be helpful and enjoyed by others too. Recorded using a variety of sound sources including synthesisers and sampled sounds, the music has been used very successfully to instil a sense of calm before sleep or focus before an activity. First performed in West Road concert hall, Cambridge at a concert to raise funds for the Autism Research Centre. The Nautilus Project CD
The Nautilus Project began life as a collection of music designed to help establish a balanced and more consistent sensory integration system. Terra Nova CD (available now)
John’s latest collection of music inspired by the expedition lead by Captain Robert Falcon Scott. This music was performed live for the first time at The Scott Polar Research Institute on 6 December 2012.
Hear the haunting ‘Timeless – Polar mix’, the poignant ‘All our day dreams are gone’ and the lively and uplifting ‘Hoosh’! An instrumental that pays tribute to the slightly strange and not entirely enticing stew concoction that the expedition members practically survived on and has the glorious sounding name that is also celebrated in the music.

The Secret Busker Project
John has performed with many well-known musicans such as Jools Holland and Nigel Kennedy and in many different musical guises from orchestras to jazz bands to folk groups and he even played on a bhangra track that reached no. 1 in the UK Bhangra Charts.
So why busking? Busking can be a fairly solitary activity – so far so good. John’s busking has 2 significantly different facets:
Busking activity 1
This comprises solo saxophone, other wind instruments playing over backing tracks with ‘standards’, some jazz, a little music from popular culture even a tiny smattering of Country and Western and one or two of John’s own compositions performed in a variety of venues either as a precursor to events, conferences etc or in a typical busking location such as Brick Lane in Tower Hamlets or Cambridge market and so on.
Busking activity 2 however, is quite different. The instrumentation is roughly the same but the venue and type of music is quite different. The style is far more improvisatory in nature though still uses some of John’s own composing work. It is also influenced by location (the sounds chosen for the Scott Polar Research Institute in Cambridge would be different from an art gallery, museum or other public place). The music would be influenced by the artefacts, the visitors and other environmental elements. The visitors are able to interact with the music in real time through devices such as Sound beam and other ‘touch’ musical interfaces. Sometimes the sounds can be purposefully changed by deliberate interaction; sometimes they will be modified by someone passing moving through the beam and triggering sound events.
John undertakes an amount of charitable and other fund-raising work through his busking activities.
